QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS

Quinnipiac Bobcats

Quinnipiac Bobcats VS. Oregon St. Beavers

Oregon State (8-2) at Quinnipiac (4-5)

GAME NOTES: Seeking to extend a five-game winning streak, the Oregon State Beavers will travel across the country to face the Quinnipiac Bobcats in a non-conference clash at TD Bank Sports Center.

Oregon State owns an 8-2 overall record coming into the contest with Quinnipiac, which includes five consecutive wins with a decisive 90-59 victory over DePaul coming just three days ago. The Beavers are a perfect 7-0 at home and 1-0 on the road this season.

Quinnipiac hasn't had as much success after losing some big names in the offseason. The Bobcats are 4-5 entering this matchup, but were finally able to put a stop to a three-game losing streak on Thursday with an 80-65 victory over Lehigh.

The only time these two teams have met on the court in history took place last season. Oregon State was able to take down Quinnipiac, 76-68, in Corvallis to take the 1-0 series advantage.

Oregon State used a strong offensive effort to absolutely bury DePaul in the Beavers' latest contest. Oregon State shot 54.5 percent from the field, and made a near-perfect 23-of-26 from the free-throw line in the win. Victor Robbins scored 27 points to lead the Beavers, while Olaf Schaftenaar chipped in with 21 points and six rebounds. Gary Payton II netted 15, Malcolm Duvivier added 11 and Langston Morris-Walker grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds. Payton added seven rebounds and five assists to his stat line.

While Oregon State's offense was highly productive against DePaul on Thursday, it's been the team's defense that has been the most helpful this season. The Beavers are allowing just 55.4 ppg this season on 34.2 percent shooting from the floor. Meanwhile the Beavers are scoring 68.9 ppg themselves on 45.2 percent shooting, led by Payton's 13.6 ppg and 9.4 rpg mark. Robbins checks in behind Payton in scoring, netting 11.5 ppg, and Morris-Walker contributes 10.5 ppg for the Beavers. Schaftenaar is just shy of the double-digit scoring mark with 9.9 ppg this season.

Quinnipiac was able to grab a 44-32 halftime lead over Lehigh, which allowed the Bobcats to breath a bit easier in the second half after the team had lost three consecutive contests prior to its meeting with the Mountain Hawks. Five double-digit scorers, including two with double-doubles, helped the Bobcats defeat Lehigh. Ousmane Drame's 19-point, 11-rebound double-double proved to be the best on the team in both categories, while Justin Harris chipped in with 11 points and 10 boards for Quinnipiac. Zaid Hearst netted 13, James Ford added 12, and Kasim Chandler tallied 10 points for the Bobcats.

Hearst and Drame have been the steady contributors for Quinnipiac this season. Hearst enters the game netting a team-high 18.2 ppg on 45.7 percent shooting from the floor. Drame's 15.2 ppg is the only other scoring average in double figures for the Bobcats, who are scoring 69.8 ppg as a unit. The problem for Quinnipiac has been limiting opponents' scoring. The Bobcats allow 69.4 ppg to opponents, who are shooting 40.5 percent from the field this season. Drame comes into the matchup averaging a double-double, adding a team-leading 10.8 rpg to his resume.

Even though Oregon State has to do a fair amount of traveling, the Beavers are in a completely different class than the Bobcats when it comes to talent level. Oregon State should have no real issues downing Quinnipiac in this one.

Predicted Outcome

Oregon State 84, Quinnipiac 68
