Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Young recorded a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds, as the Pittsburgh Panthers outlasted St. Bonaventure, 58-54, in non-conference play at the Petersen Events Center.

Jamel Artis also scored 14 points to go along with a game-high four blocks to help the Panthers (6-3) open a five-game homestand in winning fashion. Chris Jones added 11 points and three blocks.

The Bonnies (6-2) had their winning streak halted at five in a row, despite a game-high 17 points from Marcus Posley. Dion Wright had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Youssou Ndoye finished with eight points and 11 boards in the loss.

The first half featured six ties and five lead changes. St. Bonaventure held a narrow, 25-24 lead at the break after holding the Panthers to 29.6-percent shooting from the floor in the opening frame.

Pitt seized control with a 13-2 spurt early in the second stanza. The Bonnies answered with a 14-2 run, but they went on to shoot just 32 percent from the floor after halftime, while Pitt shot 52.2 percent.

Trailing 55-52, Bonnies guard Jaylen Adams had a chance to tie the game when he was fouled during a 3-point attempt with 6 seconds to play. However, he missed the second free throw and the Panthers were able to close it out.

Pitt managed to win despite making only 3-of-10 3-pointers and shooting just 65 percent from the free-throw line.
