Pittsburgh Panthers VS. St. Bonaventure Bonnies

St. Bonaventure (6-1) at Pittsburgh (5-3)

GAME NOTES: The St. Bonaventure Bonnies look to stay hot on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers in a non-league tilt inside the Petersen Events Center.

St. Bonaventure enters this contest seeking a sixth straight win. The Bonnies opened a three-game road trip with an 80-70 triumph over Ohio University last Saturday. Following this game, they won't play again until traveling to Binghamton next Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pitt has been idle since a 76-62 win over Duquesne last Friday at the CONSOL Energy Center. This marks the Panthers' first home game in nearly a month. It is also the first leg of their five-game homestand leading into the new year.

SBU leads the all-time series, 5-2, although these teams have not met since the 2001 National Invitation Tournament.

The Bonnies scored a season-high 80 points in their win over OU. After a tight first half that saw the Bobcats take a 37-36 halftime lead into the locker room, the Bonnies began to seize control with a 14-2 run early in the second half. Jaylen Adams went on to score a game-high 26 points, while backcourt mate Marcus Posley added 20 points. That duo combined to knock down 6-of-10 3-pointers. Andell Cumberbatch and Dion Wright rounded out the team's double- digit scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. On the season, Posley is one of five Bonnies players averaging double figures with a team-best 15.7 ppg. Down low, Youssou Ndoye averages a double-double with 11.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

Pitt boasts only two players averaging double figures in Michael Young (12.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg) and James Robinson (12.6 ppg, 5.6 apg). But the Panthers are a well-rounded squad that is scoring 70.5 ppg and out-rebounding foes by 8.8 rpg. In the win over Duquesne, Robinson led the way with a career-high 23 points. Josh Newkirk added 16 points and five assists off the bench, while Chris Jones and Joseph Uchebo (nine rebounds) each scored 12. Still, the Panthers had to sweat out the victory over their crosstown rival after Duquesne whittled a 15-point deficit down to six with less than three minutes remaining. Newkirk ended the threat with a three to push the margin back to nine.

The last time St. Bonaventure won five in a row was during the 2001-02 season. The Bonnies have no doubt been playing well on all fronts, but they face a tough test here against a taller Panthers team that has been itching to get back to the Petersen Events Center.

Predicted Outcome

Pittsburgh 77, St. Bonaventure 67
