Pittsburgh Panthers

Pittsburgh Panthers VS. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech (9-7) at Pittsburgh (12-5)

GAME NOTES: Still in search of their first victory in 2015, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets turn their attention to the Pittsburgh Panthers for an Atlantic Coast Conference clash at the Petersen Events Center.

Georgia Tech has lost four in a row since the start of the new year. Most recently, the Yellow Jackets were on the wrong end of a 62-59 home loss to 12th-ranked Notre Dame on Wednesday night. They will play three of their next four games on the road.

Pittsburgh has split its last four contests after winning each of the previous six. The Panthers were also in action Wednesday night, as they came up big against the visiting Florida State Seminoles, 73-64. They would no doubt like to continue their winning ways here, considering powerhouses Duke and Louisville are next up on the docket.

Georgia Tech has won five of the six previous matchups in the all-time series against Pitt.

The Yellow Jackets hung tough with the nationally-ranked Fighting Irish earlier this week, but in the end they simply did not have enough offensive firepower to pull out the victory. Junior Marcus Georges-Hunt, who entered the game leading Tech in scoring with 13.3 ppg, went 0-for-6 from the floor as he failed to register a field goal for the first time in his career. When the teams met two weeks earlier on Notre Dame's home floor, the Irish needed two overtimes to emerge victorious in that one.

Demarco Cox led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points and seven rebounds in Wednesday's rematch, while Chris Bolden joined him in double figures with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting off the bench. Charles Mitchell, the team's second- leading scorer (10.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg), finished with only two points as he shot 1-of-5 from the floor.

The Panthers are headlined by Michael Young (13.5 ppg, 7.9 rpg) down low and James Robinson (10.6 ppg, 4.5 apg) at the point. They have played well on defense, limiting foes to 61.8 ppg for a +5.5 scoring margin. Pitt is also +4.2 in rebounding differential.

Head coach Jamie Dixon earned his 300th career victory against Florida State earlier this week. Young tallied 16 points and 12 boards in that one, and the Panthers used a 16-3 run to pull away in the second half. They held FSU to 32- percent shooting over the final 20 minutes. Chris Jones added 15 points, Jamel Artis scored 13, and Cameron Wright finished with 10 points and seven boards.

The Yellow Jackets are winless through four league games, although they have yet to lose by more than seven points in ACC play despite facing some stiff competition. However, they will be hard-pressed to pull off the road win here if they don't get more production from their top weapons.

Predicted Outcome

Pittsburgh 68, Georgia Tech 64
