Recap: Oregon State vs. UCLA
Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Payton II tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Oregon State Beavers dispatched the UCLA Bruins, 66-55, in a Pac-12 Conference matchup at Gill Coliseum.
Malcolm Duvivier scored a game-high 19 points for the Beavers (13-5, 4-2 Pac-12) and also recorded six boards and five assists. Olaf Schaftenaar added 11 points, Langston Morris-Walker had 10 points and Daniel Gomis pulled down eight boards.
Bryce Alford paced UCLA (11-8, 3-3) with 18 points and six assists. Norman Powell registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, while Kevon Looney recorded a double-double of his own with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Powell and Alford combined to go 10-of-33 from the floor.
The Beavers took a 29-19 lead into halftime after they connected on 50 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening stanza. UCLA hit on just 1-of-11 tries from 3-point range in the first half.
The Bruins shot just 37.5 percent from the floor and committed 13 personal fouls after the break. OSU converted 14-of-16 tries at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes to keep UCLA at bay.
OSU assisted 15 of its 22 makes from the floor and outscored the Bruins, 26-20, in the paint. The Beavers are now 11-0 at home on the campaign, marking their best home start since the 1984 season. UCLA still owns a 90-37 advantage in the all-time series.
