Recap: Oregon vs. Arizona State
Eugene, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Joseph Young finished with 16 points as the Oregon Ducks used a late 6-0 run to knock off the Arizona State Sun Devils, 59-56, in Pac-12 Conference action at Matthew Knight Arena.
Elgin Cook tallied 14 points for Oregon (12-4, 2-1 Pac-12) in the victory. Before fouling out, Jordan Bell scored eight points, blocked eight shots, and grabbed six rebounds. Bell now owns the Oregon single-season record for blocked shots with 59, still with about half the campaign to complete.
Shaquielle McKissic scored 18 points for Arizona State (8-8, 0-3) in the defeat. Eric Jacobsen also contributed to the Sun Devils' scoring effort with 13 points, converting a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor.
After eight lead changes in the first 20 minutes, Oregon held a 25-23 advantage going into the locker room. Arizona State shot just 8-of-21 from the field in the first half, while Oregon connected on 10-of-20 field goal attempts.
Trailing 55-53 with 2:26 left in the game, Oregon went on a 6-0 run and held a four-point lead in the final moments. The Ducks shot a solid 13-of-26 from the field in the second half, while the Sun Devils connected on 11-of-26 shots in the closing period, which included a lackluster 2-of-11 mark from beyond the arc.
In a game that featured 12 ties and 18 lead changes, ASU hurt itself with 15 turnovers and just 15-of-26 shooting at the free-throw line.
