Oral Roberts Golden Eagles VS. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns

Louisiana (1-3) vs. Oral Roberts (1-2)

GAME NOTES: The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will continue play in the MGM Grand Main Event, as the two teams square off on Tuesday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Since opening the season with a win over Louisiana College, the Cajuns have failed to return to the win column, losing three straight matchups, including a 56-52 setback to Milwaukee in Monday's tournament play.

The Golden Eagles have opened the season with some tough competition. Oral Roberts opened the 2014-15 campaign with a win over Tulsa (77-68), but the team has dropped back-to-back games to Missouri (78-64) and Oregon State (55-42).

Louisiana holds a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series with Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles will take on Milwaukee on Wednesday in this event.

Louisiana got off to a slow start on Monday, shooting an ugly 23.1 percent from the floor against Milwaukee, trailing the Panthers 24-14 at the half. However, the Cajuns went on a 13-3 run in the second half to tie things up and then took a five-point lead with just over six minutes left. However, the Panthers then made their run and hit the game-winner with under a minute to play to take a two-point decision. Xavian Rimmer and Brian Williams led the way for Louisiana with 12 points each. Devonta Walker chipped in with 10 in the loss.

The Cajuns came into Monday's action with solid offensive numbers, shooting just under 50 percent from the floor, while averaging a decent 72.7 ppg. Williams boasted of the only double-digit scoring average though, netting 12.7 ppg. He was shooting at a .577 clip and also was grabbing a team-best 6.0 rpg. Shawn Long and Devonta Walker were just under the double-digit mark at 9.7 and 9.0 ppg, respectively.

The offensive numbers aren't good for Oral Roberts as a team, as the Golden Eagles are averaging a disappointing 61.0 ppg through three outings. The team is shooting a dismal .341 from the floor and an equally bad .278 from behind the arc. Guard Obi Emegano is responsible for more than a third of the team's scoring, at 21.0 ppg. Korey Billbury (12.0 ppg) and Bobby Word (10.0 ppg) are also enjoying double-digit averages, but the scoring pool dries up after that, with no other player netting more than 5.0 ppg.

ORU scored a season-low 42 points in the loss to Oregon State last time out. The Golden Eagles connected on just nine field goals in the 13-point setback. Emegano was a non-factor against the Beavers, hitting just 2-of-10 shots from the floor and finishing with just seven points. Word led the team with 11 points, while Billbury struggled himself (3-of-11 from the floor) en route to 10 points.

Neither of these teams have had much success this season. Although Oral Roberts is better rested, the Cajuns should come out firing after fighting back against Milwaukee on Monday.
