Flagstaff, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Quinton Upshur connected on a layup with 12 seconds remaining in overtime to lift his Northern Arizona Lumberjacks up past the Kent State Golden Flashes, 74-73, in the quarterfinal round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Walkup Skydome.

Upshur finished with only eight points for Northern Arizona (22-14). Kris Yanku led the way with 19 points, while Jordyn Martin and Len Springs each tallied double-doubles in the contest. Martin scored 15 with 14 rebounds, and Springs chipped in 10 points with 14 boards. Aaseem Dixon contributed 16 points in the victory for the Lumberjacks, who advance to the semifinal round of the tournament and will await their next opponent.

Devareaux Manley led all scorers in the contest with 25 points to pace Kent State (23-12). Derek Jackson collected 18 points, and Jimmy Hall notched a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, hitting a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in the defeat.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well in the first half. Northern Arizona connected on 34.5 percent of its attempts in the frame to take a slim 25-23 lead into the intermission. Kent State shot a dismal 24.2 percent from the field.

While the Golden Flashes buried a deceiving 51.9 percent of their attempts in the second half compared to 38.9 percent for the Lumberjacks, both teams sunk 14 field goals in the period. It was Kent State that hit on 6-of-13 from 3- point range to cut the deficit. Yanku connected on one of two free throws with 1:24 to play in regulation to knot the score at 61-61, sending it to overtime.

Both teams hit three field goals apiece in the extra session, but a 7-of-8 mark from the charity stripe gave the Lumberjacks the edge. Kent State held its largest lead of the game (five points) with 41 seconds to play in overtime, but NAU closed out the contest on a 6-0 run to give the hosts the victory.

Northern Arizona dominated scoring in the paint, 50-26, over Kent State, and held a 22-12 advantage in points off turnovers in the win.
