St. Thomas, VI (SportsNetwork.com) - Sterling Gibbs scored 15 points and Seton Hall held off Nevada 68-60 in the opening round of the Paradise Jam.

Brandon Mobley had 12 points and Khadeen Carrington added 11 off the bench, as Seton Hall (2-0) held off a furious rally.

The Pirates led by 19 points with 6:28 left in the game, when Nevada mounted its comeback. A.J. West scored six points in less than two minutes to highlight the 16-3 run, which Marqueze Coleman capped with two free throws with 1:16 to play.

But out of a timeout, Jaren Sina hit two free throws and Gibbs made two later on, as Seton Hall created enough distance to advance with a win.

The Pirates will take on Gardner-Webb, who shocked Clemson earlier, on Sunday.

Michael Perez scored 12 points to lead Nevada (2-1).
