MONTANA ST. BOBCATS

Montana St. Bobcats

Montana St. Bobcats VS. Wyoming Cowboys

Wyoming (10-2) at Montana State (3-8)

GAME NOTES: Seeking revenge for a loss to the Wyoming Cowboys just nine days ago, the Montana State Bobcats this time will host the Cowboys in a non- conference clash at Worthington Arena.

Wyoming is wrapping up non-conference play and is seeking its first road victory of the season all in one matchup. The Cowboys are 10-2 on the new campaign coming to Bozeman, having defeated the Bobcats just nine days ago, 70-61. Wyoming is coming off a dominant 59-37 victory over Southern on Saturday.

Montana State enters this clash with the Cowboys on a three-game losing streak. The 3-8 Bobcats made the trip to Laramie on Dec. 14, and have since lost contests to South Dakota (55-53) and Portland (87-60).

These two sides have met a total of 63 times on the basketball floor, with Wyoming coming into this contest owning a commanding 42-11 all-time series advantage. The Cowboys are just 6-6 when playing the Bobcats in Bozeman, however.

Wyoming used a dominating defensive effort to bury Southern in its last outing, holding the Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent to 32.7 percent shooting from the floor. The Cowboys were led offensively by Josh Adams and his 16-point effort, as the guard connected on 5-of-9 shooting from the field. Derek Cooke Jr. chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds in the winning effort, in which Wyoming shot 44.2 percent from the floor.

Dominant defense is quickly becoming the norm for the Cowboys, who are allowing opponents to score a meager 49.8 ppg on 38.9 percent shooting from the floor in 12 games played. The Cowboys are keeping opponents off the free- throw line (91 makes on 138 tries) and are winning the rebounding battle this season. Larry Nance Jr. tops the team in scoring at 13.1 ppg as the only Wyoming player in double figures. The Cowboys as a unit are scoring 63.7 ppg.

Montana State couldn't get much going at all in the Bobcats' blowout loss to Portland, which was red-hot in terms of shooting. The Pilots connected on 55 percent of their field-goal attempts in the contest, compared to 36.7 percent shooting for Montana State. Danny Robison netted 24 points to lead the Bobcats, adding in seven rebounds. Terrell Brown contributed 11 points and four boards in the losing effort.

Most of Montana State's top scorers were dormant in the team's 27-point loss to Portland, including the team's leading scorer Marcus Colbert (11.7 ppg), who had just four points in the loss. Michael Dison (11.5 ppg) and Stephan Holm (11.0 ppg in eight games played - out with a concussion) round out the team's trio of double-digit scorers. The Bobcats have really struggled defensively to contain anyone, allowing opponents to net 72.5 ppg this season on 45 percent shooting, while MSU itself scores 62.9 ppg.

Wyoming had the luxury of the homecourt advantage in the team's last outing against the Bobcats earlier this month, but now it's Montana State's turn to get the home-crowd edge. The way the Bobcats are playing doesn't signal anything good however, as the team is allowing way too many points to opponents.

Predicted Outcome

Wyoming 74, Montana State 63
