Starkville, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Roquez Johnson and Fred Thomas each scored 15 points as the Mississippi State Bulldogs secured a 71-63 win over the Utah State Aggies in non-conference action at Humphrey Coliseum.

Gavin Ware contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for Mississippi State (3-0).

Darius Perkins and Chris Smith finished with 14 points apiece for Utah State (3-1), while Jalen Moore netted 13.

It was Utah State that held a 38-34 lead at halftime. The Aggies sank an even 50 percent of their shots in the first half, including 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs were a step behind, shooting 47.8 percent.

Utah State didn't have the same touch in the second frame, allowing the Bulldogs to rally for the win by shooting 37 percent from the field. Mississippi State turned in a 44.8 percent shooting effort in the period.

Mississippi State outscored the visitors, 30-18, in the paint.
