Recap: Miami-Florida vs. Boston College
Coral Gables, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tonye Jekiri posted a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Miami Hurricanes as they knocked off the Boston College Eagles, 60-56, in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle at BankUnited Center.
Angel Rodriquez notched 17 points for the Hurricanes (11-4, 1-1 ACC), who have won two of their last three. Sheldon McClellan added 11 points.
Olivier Hanlan logged 19 points for the Eagles (7-7, 0-3), who have dropped three in a row. Eddie Odio contributed 13 points.
Both teams struggled out of the gate, with the Hurricanes shooting 39.3 percent from the field in the first half and the Eagles converting 33.3 percent, including just 3-of-11 from the perimeter. At halftime, it was 29-21 in favor of the home team.
The Hurricanes improved to 52.2 percent in the second half, but that included just 1-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Eagles also improved, to a 48 percent mark, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range. With 5:01 to play Aaron Brown knocked down a 3-pointer for the Eagles, tying the game at 50-50. The Hurricanes' Manu Lecomte responded with a 3-pointer of his own on his team's next possession, however, and the hosts never surrendered the lead.
Miami outscored the opposition 30-20 inside the paint in the winning effort.
