Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Carlino knocked down a 3-point jumper with 11 seconds to play to lift his Marquette Golden Eagles to a 53-52 victory over the Creighton Bluejays in Big East Conference play at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Carlino led the Golden Eagles (10-6, 2-2 Big East) in scoring with 19 points. Duane Wilson also netted double figures as he finished with 17 points, while Juan Anderson led the team in rebounding with nine boards.

Rick Kreklow had 13 points for Creighton (9-9, 0-5) while Toby Hegner scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss. Will Artino also contributed with eight points and six boards.

Marquette converted 39.3 percent of its first-half shots, and that included six 3-pointers. Defensively, the Golden Eagles limited Creighton to a 26.7 shooting percentage in the opening 20 minutes, and took a 28-21 lead into the locker room.

Although Marquette had a better shooting percentage in the final period by going 7-of-15 from the field (46.7 percent), the Bluejays took 10 more attempts than the Golden Eagles, and went 12-of-25 (48 percent) on their second-half tries. Creighton had taken its second lead of the half with 3:05 left in the contest, and held the advantage until Carlino's 3-pointer at the end of the game.

Marquette was able to pull out a victory despite being heavily outscored by Creighton in the paint (22-8) and in bench points (21-9).
