KANSAS ST. WILDCATS

Kansas St. Wildcats

Kansas St. Wildcats VS. TCU Horned Frogs

TCU (13-1) at Kansas State (7-7)

GAME NOTES: Perhaps feeling a bit slighted by the Top-25 selection committee, the TCU Horned Frogs return to action on the road as they battle the Kansas State Wildcats in a Big 12 Conference clash at Bramlage Coliseum.

TCU enters the matchup with a 13-1 overall record this season, though the Horned Frogs dropped their first contest of the year against West Virginia, 78-67,in their last outing on Saturday. TCU is 1-0 on the road so far, and 2-0 at neutral-site locations.

Kansas State will be looking to avoid a four-game skid when it hosts TCU. Having the home advantage didn't help against Texas Southern (58-56) or against Georgia (50-46), which make up two of K-State's last three games. The Wildcats are coming off a 61-47 loss to Oklahoma State.

Kansas State holds a 7-2 all-time advantage over TCU in the all-time series. The Wildcats are 4-1 against the Horned Frogs in Manhattan, and went a perfect 2-0 against TCU last season.

TCU performed well against West Virginia in the Horned Frogs' last outing, which was the team's Big 12 Conference opener. The Frogs held a two-point lead heading into halftime, and in the end owned advantages in scoring from the free-throw line (25-19) and from 3-point range (four made shots to three). But a 51.7 shooting percentage for the Mountaineers in the latter half helped them come back for the road win. Kyan Anderson scored 19 points to lead TCU in the defeat, while Trey Zeigler added 17 points with six boards before fouling out. Brandon Parrish contributed 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers.

Even though TCU only has one player this season with a double-digit scoring average entering this matchup, the Frogs are still scoring 74.6 ppg this season - good for third in the Big 12. Anderson is that lone TCU player, coming into Wednesday's clash carrying a 13.8 ppg mark. The Horned Frogs have done a stellar job limiting opponent scoring, allowing just 55.0 ppg (best in the Big 12) on 34.7 percent shooting (second-best in Big 12). In fact, TCU's plus-19.6 ppg scoring margin is another conference topper. Kenrich Williams leads TCU in rebounding at 6.6 rpg, and Anderson's 58 assists is the most on the team.

Kansas State opened its Big 12 schedule with a dud of a second-half performance against Oklahoma State. The Wildcats owned a two-point lead going into halftime, but proceeded to shoot just 29.2 percent from the floor in the second period, including an 0-of-3 mark from 3-point range en route to the loss. Thomas Gipson netted 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting to lead the Wildcats, while Justin Edwards netted 11 with five rebounds in the defeat.

Marcus Foster didn't get the start against Oklahoma State for the first time all season, as the guard played only 14 minutes and scored zero points on 0- of-4 shooting. Still, he enters this matchup as the team's leading scorer at 13.0 ppg. Gipson chips in 12.0 ppg on 64.9 percent shooting, and Nino Williams (played in 12 games) rounds out a trio of double-digit K-State scorers at 11.3 ppg, adding in a team-best 4.6 rpg. The Wildcats come into the contest netting 66.8 ppg as a team, and are allowing 63.9 ppg to opponents on 45.90 percent shooting.

Having the home advantage hasn't meant much to the Wildcats over the team's past two games at Bramlage Coliseum. TCU will try to shut Kansas State down defensively as the Horned Frogs' offense chips away and pads a lead. With seven players averaging at least 7.1 ppg, that shouldn't be too hard for TCU.

Predicted Outcome

TCU 70, Kansas State 62
