Recap: Georgia State vs. Southern Miss

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Harrow erupted for 27 points as the Georgia State Panthers secured a 68-55 win over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in non-conference action at the GSU Sports Arena.

Harrow converted 5-of-8 shots behind the 3-point line for the Panthers (7-3) as they bounced back from an overtime loss to Old Dominion earlier in the week. Also scoring in double figures was RJ Hunter with 13 points, to go along with seven assists and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles (5-5) were paced by Chip Armelin with 16 points, followed by Rasham Suarez and Matt Bingaya with 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Norville Carey contributed a game-high 10 rebounds to the cause.

Southern Miss shot not only 50 percent from the field in the first half but also 7-of-14 behind the 3-point line, but still the visitors trailed at the break by a 38-29 margin. The Panthers converted 6-of-14 on the outside and 45.5 percent from the floor overall.

In the second half the Golden Eagles plummeted to just 29.6 percent accuracy from the floor, preventing the visitors from being competitive after intermission.

More than anything else, USM defeated itself by turning the ball over 22 times, mistakes that GSU converted into 32 points.
