Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton notched a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Georgia Bulldogs downed the Florida Atlantic Owls, 74-61, in non-conference play at Stegeman Coliseum.

Thornton, who blocked five shots, shot 7-of-15 from the field for the Bulldogs (3-1) who have won three straight. Nemanja Djurisic tallied eight points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Kenny Gaines added 15 points.

Marquan Botley netted a game-high 20 points on 9-of-20 from the floor for the Owls (1-3), who have dropped back-to-back games. Jackson Trapp (15 points), Kelvin Penn (11) and Justin Massey (11) also reached double figures.

In the first half the Bulldogs shot 48.3 percent from the floor, while their opponent struggled at 38.7 percent, allowing the hosts to take a 35-27 halftime lead.

The Owls improved to shoot 43.3 percent from the field in the second half, but that included just 2-of-10 from the perimeter. The Bulldogs were just slightly better at 43.8 percent, but they also knocked down 11-of-17 at the free-throw line. Georgia led by as many as 18 points, with 3:22 left.

The reserves for Georgia outscored the FAU backups by a decisive 20-2 margin.
