GEORGE MASON PATRIOTS

George Mason Patriots

George Mason Patriots VS. Davidson Wildcats

Davidson (13-4) at George Mason (6-11)

GAME NOTES: George Mason has not played in a week and the Patriots needed the rest with a tough Davidson Wildcats team coming to town for an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup on Saturday night.

Davidson showed this past Tuesday that its high-powered offense can light up the scoreboard against stingy defensive teams too.

Peyton Aldridge hit four of Davidson's 12 3-pointers and the Wildcats snapped Dayton's eight-game win streak by handing the 22nd-ranked Flyers their first A-10 loss in a 77-60 drubbing at Belk Arena.

Davidson did not hit its season average of 82.4 points, but only because it took its foot off the gas after building a healthy lead.

Aldridge finished with 22 points, Tyler Kalinoski chipped in with 21 and Jordan Barham, who started in place of an injured Jack Gibbs, added eight.

The win improved the Wildcats to 13-4 on the season and 4-2 in A-10 play, mostly thanks to their offensive prowess.

Davidson leads the A-10 and is near the top of the national ranks in scoring at 82.1 ppg. The team is shooting an efficient 47.6 percent from the floor overall, and utilizes the 3-pointer as much as any team in the nation, averaging 10.7 treys per game. Scoring depth isn't a problem, as five Wildcats are currently averaging double figures, led by Kalinoski (16.7 ppg) and Gibbs (15.8 ppg), whose availability for Saturday's bout in unknown. Aldridge, Barham and Brian Sullivan all average just under 11 ppg.

The last time the Patriots were on the hardwood they suffered a 63-53 loss to George Washington last Saturday. Corey Edwards scored 13 points and Shevon Thompson contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds in the setback, George Mason's fourth straight after opening A-10 action with a win over La Salle.

George Washington outscored George Mason at the free-throw line, 23-6.

Thompson has been the Patriots' most steady performer, averaging 13.1 ppg and a conference-leading 11.1 rpg. Patrick Holloway (11.5 ppg) and Marquise Moore (8.9 ppg), along with Jalen Jenkins (7.9 ppg), are part of a team that is netting just 65.0 ppg.

These teams have never met before with Davidson being new to the conference. The Wildcats figure to give the Patriots a rude greeting in what should be a lopsided affair.

Predicted Outcome

Davidson 85, George Mason 70
