George Mason Patriots VS. Charleston Cougars

Recap: George Mason vs. Coll of Charleston

San Juan, PR (SportsNetwork.com) - A free throw by Adjehi Baru with 19 seconds remaining was just enough to push the College of Charleston to a 61-60 win over the George Mason Patriots in the championship round of the 2014 Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Coliseo Roberto Clemente.

Baru, who missed the first of his two attempts at the charity stripe down the stretch, finished with 10 points off the bench for the Cougars (2-3) as they snapped a three-game slide. Canyon Barry was credited with a game-high 17 points, followed by Cameron Johnson and Donovan Gilmore with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Patriot (1-4) were led by Shevon Thompson with a double-double consisting of 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Trey Porter tacked on 11 points in a reserve role and Marquise Moore 10 in the losing cause.

George Mason led by as many as nine points about six minutes into the contest, but lost the advantage late in the period and ended up trailing by three at the break, 37-34.

In the second half the Patriots missed their only two attempts behind the 3- point line and made a total of just 10 field goals. After Baru converted the second of two free throws to give Charleston the one-point edge, the Patriots had a chance to steal away the win but a 3-point attempt by Vaughn Gray in the waning moments missed the mark.

George Mason posted a 38-29 advantage on the glass, but was charged with 17 turnovers in the contest.
