GAME NOTES: After winning their first Mountain West Conference game of the season against San Diego State, the Fresno State Bulldogs play host to the Utah State Aggies on Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center.

The Aggies head to Fresno on a three-game win streak, with their most recent victory coming on Saturday when they held off the Boise State Broncos, 62-61. The win improved Utah State's conference record to 2-0, and its overall record to 9-5.

Prior to their 59-57 victory over the Aztecs on Saturday, the Bulldogs had dropped their first conference game of the season at New Mexico, 76-64. Fresno State now holds a record of 1-1 in Mountain West play, and a 6-9 record overall.

This game marks the 53rd meeting between these teams on the hardwood, with Utah State leading the series, 31-21. The last time these conference rivals faced off was on Feb. 22, 2014, when Fresno State held off the Aggies by a score of 79-76.

Utah State's David Collette knocked down a 3-pointer as time expired to vault his Aggies over Boise State on Saturday. Marvelle Harris led the way for Fresno State with 25 points and seven rebounds. Julien Lewis (14 points) and Paul Watson (12 points) also contributed to the scoring effort. Alex Davis finished the game with an impressive six blocked shots. Fresno State can attribute its victory to a strong first half, where it made 46.7 of its field goal tries, and limited the Aztecs to a 25.9 shooting percentage in the opening period.

Harris is currently the top scorer (17.1 ppg) and top rebounder (5.2 rpg) for Fresno State, with his scoring average being the third-best in the MWC. Lewis (12.5 ppg), Watson (11.7 ppg), and Karachi Edo (10.3 ppg) are all averaging double figures as well. While the Bulldogs are scoring 65.5 ppg, they are allowing 65.7 ppg (next-to-last in the MWC). Fresno State is also struggling from beyond the arc as it converts only 29.5 percent of its 3-point tries (also next-to-last in the MWC).
