Recap: Davidson vs. Charlotte
Davidson, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Kalinoski netted 19 points as his Davidson Wildcats won a shootout against the Charlotte 49ers, 92-86, in non- conference action at John M. Belk Arena.
Reserve Jordan Barham had 16 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats (5-1). Other Davidson players to finish with double figures were Brian Sullivan (15 points), Jack Gibbs (12), and Peyton Aldridge (10).
Willie Clayton gave Charlotte (4-3) 17 points in the loss. Pierria Henry played well for the 49ers as he finished with 13 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals. Torin Dorn contributed with 16 points and five rebounds. Keyshawn Woods and Terrence Williams both scored 12 points, and Mike Thorne Jr. tallied 10 points and five rebounds.
Davidson shot an impressive 16-of-28 from the field in the first half, and took a 45-38 lead into the locker room. Charlotte was able to stay close by hitting 15-of-28 in the opening 20 minutes.
The Wildcats continued their impressive shooting night in the second half, knocking down 59.3 percent of their field goal attempts, including 9-of-16 3-point tries. The 49ers did their best to keep pace, shooting 48.6 percent from the field in the final period, but connected on just 2-of-8 3-point attempts.
Davidson won the rebounding battle, 37-31, but was dominated on points in the paint (50-32).
