Central Florida Knights VS. Temple Owls

Temple (13-7) at UCF (9-10)

GAME NOTES: The Temple Owls look to sweep the regular-season series against UCF on Wednesday night when the two teams meet up for an American Athletic Conference matchup at CFE Arena.

The all-time series between these two schools is tied, 2-2, although Temple claimed an 84-78 victory over the Knights in the first meeting back on Jan. 4 in Philadelphia.

Temple enters the rematch looking to build on Thursday's 73-48 triumph over USF. The Owls had lost three straight prior to that victory. The win over the Bulls moved Temple to 13-7 overall and 4-3 in the American Athletic Conference.

UCF is currently in the midst of a three-game skid. The Knights were unable to find an offensive rhythm against Cincinnati on Sunday as they fell at home, 56-46. The loss dropped UCF under .500 on the year at 9-10 and leaves the team in eighth place in the AAC standings at just 2-6.

When the Owls faced Cincinnati two weekends ago, they gave up 84 points and lost by 31. But they showed a much improved effort back at home against South Florida in their last outing, holding the Bulls to 30-percent shooting en route to their second-lowest scoring output of the season. Jesse Morgan gave the Owls' offense a spark as he knocked down five of the team's 10 3-pointers for the game and finished with a game- and season-high 19 points. Quenton DeCosey added 14 points and six rebounds, while Will Cummings scored 12 in his return to the floor.

The senior point guard, who is third on the team with 12.9 ppg on the season, had missed all or part of the previous three games due to injury. Morgan (13.5 ppg) and DeCosey (13.4 ppg) continue to pace the Owls in the scoring column, with Cummings now back to his role of floor general.

The Knights like to try and get open looks for their perimeter weapons, as B.J. Taylor (14.1 ppg), Adonys Henriquez (11.1 ppg) and Daiquan Walker (8.0 ppg) are all shooting 40 percent or better from 3-point range. Brandon Goodwin (10.3 ppg, 3.4 apg) also averages double figures but is more of an initiator.

The Knights recently gave up 100 points at home to Tulane and 99 at Memphis three days later, though they stepped up their defense against Cincinnati on Sunday, limiting the Bearcats to 40.4-percent shooting from the floor. However, UCF shot just 32.7 percent as a team, while top scorers Taylor and Henriquez combined for only seven points on 2-of-11 shooting. Kasey Wilson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

The Owls were able to get back into the win column in their last outing, but they must put forth that same kind of effort against a UCF squad that has played much better on its home floor than on the road and no doubt wants to exact some revenge for that earlier loss at Temple.

Predicted Outcome

UCF 72, Temple 69
