Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jabari Bird accounted for 18 points as his California Golden Bears cruised past the Cal Poly Mustangs, 72-52, in a non- conference clash at Haas Pavilion.

Jordan Mathews chipped in 17 points for Cal (4-1), while Tyrone Wallace netted 16 points with eight rebounds in the win. Christian Behrens brought down a team-high nine boards.

Brian Bennett notched a team-high 16 points with six rebounds for Cal Poly (2-2), and David Nwaba contributed 14 points and five boards.

Cal took a 31-24 lead into the intermission after the home squad shot an even 50 percent from the field in the first half. Cal Poly could only connect on 37.5 percent of its shot tries, and went just 2-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Mustangs dropped their shooting accuracy down to 32.1 percent in the second frame, while the Bears connected on 44.8 percent from the floor and made 12-of-14 from the free-throw line to coast to victory.

California had the edge over Cal Poly in rebounding, 44-27, and outscored the Mustangs from distance, 18-9.
