Boise St. Broncos VS. San Jose St. Spartans

Recap: Boise State vs. San Jose St

Boise, ID (SportsNetwork.com) - Derrick Marks scored a game-high 19 points as the Boise State Broncos made quick work of the San Jose State Spartans, 86-36, in Mountain West Conference action at Taco Bell Arena.

Montigo Alford contributed 14 points off the bench for the Broncos (13-6, 3-3 MWC) as the team had 14 players see action and all but one of them score. The victory was the third in a row for BSU.

The Spartans (2-17, 0-7), who continue to seek their first win over a Division I foe this season, were once again at a disadvantage with several players out due to injury or disciplinary issues. The visitors were led by Rashad Muhammad with 13 points on only 4-of-12 shooting from the field.

Boise State scored the first points of the night and never looked back, opening the meeting on a 9-1 run and putting together several other strong spurts in the frame in order to take a commanding 45-17 advantage at the break. The Broncos made good on 57.6 percent from the field over the first 20 minutes, compared to SJSU at a mere 23.5 percent (4-of-17).

The second half was more of the same for the Spartans as they knocked down just seven field goals and were 1-of-12 behind the 3-point line, en route to the lopsided 50-point decision on the road.

San Jose State, which has now lost nine in a row and 16 of the last 17 decisions since opening the campaign with a 67-44 triumph over Bethesda (CA), ended up with almost twice as many turnovers (20) as made field goals (11).

The 50-point margin of victory was the biggest for the Broncos since the team defeated Simpson early last season by a score of 110-53. The win also moved BSU to 25-2 in the all-time series.
