Recap: Boise State vs. Montana
Boise, ID (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Drmic scored 29 points and grabbed six rebounds as his Boise State Broncos fought past the Montana Grizzlies, 72-67, in a double-overtime non-conference clash at Taco Bell Arena.
Nick Duncan also contributed 15 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots for Boise State (3-0).
Martin Breunig scored 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds with three blocked shots for Montana (0-2). Jordan Gregory added 15 points with four assists and Mario Dunn netted 12 points before fouling out in the loss.
Montana took a 30-20 lead into halftime thanks to 43.3 percent shooting in the frame. The Grizzlies held Boise State to a dismal 28.6 percent shooting from the floor.
But Boise State came storming back in the second half behind 36 percent shooting, which included 5-of-12 from 3-point distance. The Grizzlies fell to 36.8 percent shooting in the second, and lost enough ground that allowed Boise State to tie the game, 51-51, at the end of regulation.
In the first overtime period, the two teams battled back and forth with each netting eight points to send the contest to a second extra session.
Boise State's offense responded with 13 points in the second additional period, while the team's defense held Montana to eight points for the five- point victory.
The Broncos had a 22-9 scoring advantage from the free-throw line, and forced Montana into making 17 turnovers in Boise State's third win.
