Wilson skyrockets up world rankings
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Oliver Wilson earned his first European Tour title on Sunday and that helped him make a huge jump in this week’s world rankings.
Wilson leapt 636 spots to No. 156 as he held off world No. 1 Rory McIlroy and two others to win Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
McIlroy increased his lead atop the rankings to 2.85 average points. Following McIlroy, the top 12 were also unchanged with No. 2 Adam Scott followed by Sergio Garcia, Jim Furyk, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Bubba Watson, Jason Day, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson and Martin Kaymer.
Billy Horschel and Jordan Spieth exchanged places with Horschel up to 13th. The idle Dustin Johnson moved up two to 15 and that pushed Zach Johnson and Tiger Woods down to 16 and 17 respectively.
Graeme McDowell, Jimmy Walker and Hideki Matsuyama rounded out the top 20.
Richie Ramsay, who shared second place behind Wilson, jumped 57 to No. 93 this week.
