Who’s going to the MLB Playoffs?

MLB playoffs are still just over two months away but already some teams are planning their postseason strategy, while others are preparing for a graceful exit. So, with a dozen or so teams left in each league, who’s likely to get into the MLB playoffs this year?

Washington Nationals — The Nationals will get into the playoffs this year, but they’re going to lose Stephen Strasburg at some point due to the Tommy John surgery he had in 2010. Without him, they don’t have a chance at winning championship.

Cincinnati Reds — The Reds right now are leading their division by eight games; but they’ve got a tough 18 game schedule ahead of them. If there’s a team to keep you on the edge of your seat right now, they’re in Cincinnati.

San Francisco Giants — The Giants are in the playoffs right now ahead of Los Angeles, but LA just traded for all of Boston’s best players. The Giants might make the playoffs, but they’ll have to hold on tight in order to do it.

Los Angeles Dodgers — The Dodgers are a tricky team right now. If they went today they’d miss the playoffs; but they just acquired Josh Beckett and Adrien Gonzalez from Boston, and they’re bound to make a difference. With those acquisitions, the Dodgers could be the favorite to win the World Series.

New York Yankees — The Yankees will make their usual appearance at the playoffs and they’ll most likely do well there. But they’ll have to get past the Texas Rangers first.

Texas Rangers — The Rangers are back with a vengeance this year after the bitter aftertaste of last year’s lost in the World Series continues to cling on. They’ve got a good shot of doing it this year but they’ll have to stand up to the Yankees.
