What Does Lady Gaga have planned for Opening the VMAs?

The Video Music Awards have been something eagerly watched and waited for by fans for decades now; and ever since Lady Gaga first appeared at the award show in 2009, it’s been an event to watch just for this pop icon. From her blood-stained leotards, to her “meat dress”, to bringing along Kermit the Frog as a date, Lady Gaga always chooses the VMAs as the place to make an even bigger statement than she usually does. So what will she do when she opens the VMAs this year?

Who will fill that opening spot of the show is not something that is taken lightly by MTV. With big names like Eminem and Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Madonna and Britney Spears taking it in the past, the show’s organizers want to give the crowd (and the millions of viewers watching) something to talk about. And Lady Gaga is sure to provide just that. No details are being released about what exactly we can expect, and they likely won’t be up until the very moment Gaga takes the stage — or the roof, or the floor or the wall, or however else she chooses to arrive. But it is Gaga, so it is going to be a very big performance; and if she sets the tone for the rest of the evening, it’s going to be a very big show!

In addition to appearing as the opening act, Lady Gaga is also nominated in four categories: Best Female Video; Best Video with a Message; Best Art Direction; and Best Choreography.
