West Coast Conference Tournament Recaps
Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) – Avry Holmes scored 19 points as the San Francisco Dons defeated the San Diego Toreros, 69-60, in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament at Orleans Arena.
Tim Derksen had 15 points while Cole Dickerson tallied 14 and eight rebounds for the third-seeded Dons (21-10), who extended their winning streak to six games. San Francisco will face BYU on Monday in the semifinals.
Dennis Kramer had 19 points for the sixth-seeded Toreros (16-16), who have lost two straight games. Johnny Dee added 13 points as Christopher Anderson chipped in 12 points, nine boards and six assists.
USF shot 46.2 percent from the field, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range, in the first period as it led 33-23 at the break. USD made 45.5 percent of its field goal attempts, but only 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, not to mention 1- of-4 at the free-throw line.
The Dons connected on just 38.1 percent of their shots from the floor in the second half, but went 19-of-24 at the charity stripe. Dee hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to one with 8:36 remaining. From that point USF went on an 8-0 run to create some space and never looked back.
The Toreros attempted nearly twice as many 3-pointers as the Dons, 31-17.

Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) – Kyle Collinsworth registered a double- double with 23 points and 16 rebounds as the BYU Cougars rolled past the Loyola Marymount Lions 85-74 in the West Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Orleans Arena.
Tyler Haws finished with 22 points for the second-seeded Cougars (22-10), who extended their winning streak to five games. BYU will face off against third- seed San Francisco on Monday in the semifinals. Anson Winder tallied 16 points and six steals and Matt Carlino chipped in 11 points
Anthony Ireland had 19 points while Gabe Levin logged a double-double with 18 and 10 rebounds for the 10th-seeded Lions (13-19), who have lost two of their last three. Evan Payne scored 15 points and Nick Stover had 12.
BYU made 51.5 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half as it led 43-36 at the break. LMU shot 35.5 percent from the field but went 13-of-15 from the free-throw line to remain within striking distance.
The Cougars connected on 40.6 percent of their shots from the floor in the second frame. The Lions converted on 38.7 percent of their field goal tries and put no pressure on BYU as it cruised to victory.
BYU went 0-of-12 from 3-point range in the win.

Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) – David Stockton scored the game-winning layup with just 1.4 seconds on the clock to give the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs a 77-75 victory over the ninth-seeded Santa Clara Broncos in a West Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Orleans Arena.
Sam Dower Jr. finished with 23 points to lead the Bulldogs (26-6), while Przemek Karnowski posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Gary Bell Jr. added 13 points. Gonzaga awaits Saint Mary’s in the semifinal round of the tournament.
Jared Brownridge led all scorers with 24 points to pace the Broncos (14-19), while Brandon Clark added 14 points and Evan Roquemore chipped in with 12 points.
Santa Clara shot 45.2 percent from the field in the first half, including 5- of-13 from beyond the arc, as the Broncos took a 37-31 lead into halftime. Gonzaga hit on 50 percent from the field in the opening period, but missed all five of its 3-point tries.
After the break, the Bulldogs stayed hot from the field, connecting on 56.5 percent of their shots, including 2-of-6 from deep. The Broncos caught fire as well, knocking down 56 percent of their field goal tries and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc. After trailing for most of the second half, the Bulldogs pulled ahead for good with under three minutes to play. They led 75-70 with 38 seconds to play before the Broncos scored five straight, tying the game on a jumper by Brownridge with 10 seconds left, setting the stage for Stockton’s game-winner.
The Bulldogs outscored Santa Clara in the paint, 44-22. Gonzaga finished with a 27-12 scoring edge from the free-throw line.
Final Score: Saint Mary’s-CA 80, Pepperdine 69
Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) – Brad Waldow tallied 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Saint Mary’s Gaels past the Pepperdine Waves, 80-69, in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament at Orleans Arena.
Waldow shot 6-of-7 from the field and 9-of-12 at the free-throw line for fourth-seeded Saint Mary’s (22-10), which will take on No. 1 seed Gonzaga in the semifinals on Monday. Stephen Holt and Beau Levesque both poured in 12 points, while Kerry Carter added 10 points.
For fifth-seeded Pepperdine (15-16), Amadi Udenyi had 13 points, Stacy Davis scored 12 and Malcolm Brooks netted 10.
Saint Mary’s shot 51.6 percent from the field in the first half, including an outstanding 7-of-12 from 3-point range, as it held a comfortable 41-28 lead at the break. Pepperdine was also efficient (.478) but attempted nine fewer field goals than the Gaels and made only two 3-pointers.
The Gaels continued their stellar field goal shooting after halftime (.480) and the Waves never got closer than seven points of the lead.
Saint Mary’s earned a 39-30 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored Pepperdine in the paint, 38-26.
