Vorbeck, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) – Paul Wesselingh outlasted Bernhard Langer and Philip Golding in a three-way playoff on Sunday to win the Winstongolf Senior Open.

Wesselingh birdied the third playoff hole on the Winstonopen Course at Winstongolf to defeat Langer. Golding was eliminated on the second hole when he made bogey.

The trio finished regulation play tied at 15-under 201. Wesselingh made the biggest move on Sunday with a final-round, 7-under 65. Golding carded a 66 and Langer shot a 69. The win is Wesselingh’s sixth on the European Senior Tour and first of the season after winning four times last year.

Wesselingh excelled down the stretch in regulation play. After three birdies on the front nine, he made a birdie on 12 and then rattled off four straight pars. Heading to the final two holes, Wesselingh needed to make something happen if he wanted a chance to win. He did just that with an eagle on the par-5 17th and a birdie at the last to earn a spot in the playoff.

Golding also came through in the clutch with six birdies on the back nine, with pars coming on 12, 15 and 18. Langer had four birdies in his round to go along with a bogey on the 15th to join Wesselingh and Golding in a playoff.

After all three birdied the par-4 18th, the first playoff hole, they returned to the 18th again, where Wesselingh and Langer escaped with pars, while Golding tripped to a bogey.

On the 18th hole once again, Wesselingh came through with a clutch birdie and Langer settled for par, giving the title to Wesselingh.

Gary Emerson finished alone in fourth at 14-under 202 following a final-round 70. Andre Bossert (68), Jean-Francois Remesy (69) and Wraith Grant (71) finished one shot back of Emerson at minus-13.
