Wacha hit by foul ball, exits game
St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Michael Wacha was hit by a teammate’s foul ball and exited Wednesday’s game against Arizona.
Wacha was in the dugout when he suffered a contusion on his right elbow after being hit by a batted ball from Matt Adams leading off the bottom of the sixth inning.
Pat Neshek came in to relieve Wacha to begin the seventh. Wacha gave up a pair of hits, was throwing a shutout and was in line for the win until Gerardo Parra hit a two-run homer in the eighth off Carlos Martinez to give Arizona a 2-1 lead.
