Virginia routs Arkansas for super regionals berth
Charlottesville, OR (SportsNetwork.com) – Derek Fisher hit a couple of two-run singles and top-seeded Virginia routed Arkansas 9-2 on Sunday night to make the NCAA super regionals.
The Cavaliers blew through their regional, winning three games by a combined score of 22-3, including two victories over second-seeded Arkansas.
They advanced to face Maryland in an all-ACC super regional.
Arkansas topped No. 4 seed Bucknell 10-0 earlier on Sunday to set up another meeting with Virginia and would have had to beat the Cavaliers twice to advance.
The regional’s No. 3 seed, Liberty, was eliminated after losing its first two games.
