Venters, Pena agree to terms with Braves
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Atlanta Braves announced on Monday that pitcher Jonny Venters and infielder Ramiro Pena agreed to contracts for the 2014 season.
The left-hander missed the 2013 season after undergoing “Tommy John” surgery in May. Venters is 15-10 with a 2.23 ERA in 230 career appearances with the Braves. He’ll get $1.625 million for 2014.
Pena hit .278 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 50 games with the Braves last season before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in June.
Atlanta also declined to tender a 2014 contract offer to infielders Paul Janish and Elliot Johnson and right-handed pitcher Cristhian Martinez.
