Twins trade Willingham to KC, activate Mauer
Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Minnesota Twins traded outfielder Josh Willingham to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for minor league pitcher Jason Adam on Monday.
The 35-year-old Willingham hit .210 with 12 homers and 34 RBI in 68 games for the Twins this season.
In addition, Minnesota activated first baseman Joe Mauer from the 15-day disabled list, and he is in the starting lineup for the Twins’ game at Houston.
Mauer, who has missed the last five weeks with a strained right oblique, is hitting a career-low .271 this season with two homers and 28 RBI.
