Toronto’s Collaros highlights September’s best
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Toronto Argonauts quarterback Zach Collaros was among four players selected as the CFL’s top performers for the month of September.
Collaros compiled 1,043 passing yards and eight touchdowns while guiding the Argonauts to a perfect 4-0 record in September to take home offensive honors. All four of Toronto’s wins came on the road, making the Argos the first team in CFL history to win four games in a row on the road.
B.C. Lions linebacker Adam Bighill garnered defensive honors, racking up 24 tackles, two sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and a 30-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
A pair of Calgary Stampeders rounded out the monthly awards, with running back Jon Cornish earning Canadian player of the month while kicker Rene Paredes was named the top special teams performer.
Cornish rushed for 398 yards on 58 carries and collected 85 yards and a touchdown on 13 receptions. Paredes went 12-for-13 on field goal attempts, including a 5-for-5 effort in Calgary’s win over Edmonton.
