Top four playoff teams announced
Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) – Two-time defending national champion North Dakota State, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Washington and Southeastern Louisiana are the top four seeds for the upcoming NCAA Division I Football Subdivision Championship playoffs.
The NCAA released the names of the top four seeds, but not the order, prior to Sunday’s announcement of the entire 24-team field.
The four teams advanced to the playoffs as automatic qualifiers, winning their respective conference championship: North Dakota State (11-0) in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, Eastern Illinois (11-1) in the Ohio Valley Conference, Eastern Washington (10-2) in the Big Sky Conference and Southeastern Louisiana (10-2) in the Southland Conference.
Eight seeded teams will have first-round byes when the playoffs kick off on Saturday. The playoffs will lead up to the FCS national championship game on Jan. 4 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
