2012 saw a host of great concert tours and fans were treated to live versions of their favorite songs — some currently landing on the Billboard charts, as well as those old classics we never can shake. But which concerts drew in the biggest crowds, and were the biggest money-makers of the year? These top five below!

5.) Coldplay — Mylo Xyloto Tour

Maybe fans just wanted to learn how to properly announce the name of this tour that actually began in 2011, but they came in droves to see Coldplay last year. With a total of 67 shows throughout the year, an attendance record of 1,811,787 people, this concert grossed $147.3 million in sales.

4.) Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour by Cirque de Soleil

Michael Jackson was one of the biggest grossing artists during his time with us, so it’s no wonder that his name continues to garner big money even after his tragic death. This tour had an exhausting 183 shows, an attendance of 1,374,482, and actually equalled the gross revenue of Coldplay’s tour – $147.3 million.

3.) Roger Waters — Wall Live Tour

It was a safe bet that when fans heard they had the chance to see Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” album presented live, they’d come out in droves. That they did, with 1,680,042 people attending 72 shows and handing over a total of $186.5 million dollars.

2.) Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band — The Wrecking Ball Tour

Springsteen will always top out as one of the highest grossing acts, as his fans will go see him time and time again. They’ve proven this throughout the years and this last one was no exception. During the 72 shows Springsteen put on last year, 2,165,925 people went to go see him, grossing The Boss and his Band a total of $199.4 million.

1.) Madonna — MDNA Tour

Madge proves that she is the Queen of the Concerts, with the 72 shows that she put on during her MDNA Tour last year. While not as many people went to go see her as they did Springsteen, with an attendance record at MDNA concerts being 1,635,176, they did pay more to do so. Madonna brought in the biggest bucks on tour last year; this one to the tune of $228.4 million.
