Frank Mason added 13 points and Joel Embiid had 10 to help the Jayhawks (5-1) advance to face Villanova in Friday’s semifinals. Wake Forest (5-1) was able to cut a 14-point halftime deficit down to five entering the final minute of play, with Codi Miller-McIntyre netting 20 of his game-high 26 points after the break. However, Kansas hit 6-of-7 free throws down the stretch to send the Demon Deacons to their first loss of the season. The Deacons will take on USC, a 94-79 loser to Villanova in the event’s first game, in Friday’s consolation round.

Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Marcus Smart scored 30 points and fifth- ranked Oklahoma State put together a dominant first half en route to a 97-87 decision over Purdue in the tip-off game of the Old Spice Classic. Smart put up 24 of his points during an opening period in which the Cowboys (6-0) scored at will in building a commanding 52-29 lead. Markel Brown finished with 25 points and six rebounds in the win, with Le’Bryan Nash adding 16 points for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys advance to face unbeaten Butler, a 76-69 victor over Washington State, in Friday’s winner’s bracket. Bryson Scott totaled 18 points in the loss, the first of the season for Purdue (5-1), with Errick Peck netting 12. The Boilermakers will take on Washington State Friday in the consolation round.

Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) – Jordan Adams and Zach LaVine netted 21 points apiece to lead the 19th-ranked UCLA Bruins past the Nevada Wolf Pack, 105-84, as part of the Las Vegas Invitational. Adams hit 10-of-10 from the free throw line and eclipsed the 21-point mark for the fifth straight game, while LaVine made 4-of-6 from 3-point range off the bench for UCLA (6-0), which is off to its best start since 2007-08 when the Bruins opened the season 7-0. Kyle Anderson filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high six assists in the triumph, and Norman Powell netted 14 points. McDermott, a two-time All-American, dropped 27 points and made all 10 of his free throws in the rout. He has reached at least 20 points in all five games this season. Devin Brooks added 23 points off the bench on 9-for-11 shooting for Creighton (5-0), which will face San Diego State in the semifinals on Friday. Carson paced the Sun Devils (6-1) with 15 points but turned the ball over five times compared to just four assists. Jermaine Marshall and Richie Edwards chipped in 12 points apiece.

Brett Bisping and Evan Hymes went for 11 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench for Siena (2-5), which did not have a starter in double figures. Bisping also added a personal-best 12 rebounds.

Nassau, Bahamas (SportsNetwork.com) – Roy Devyn Marble poured in 30 points and fueled a second-half surge that lifted No. 23 Iowa to a 77-74 overtime victory over Xavier on Thursday in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament at Imperial Arena. Xavier held a seemingly comfortable 55-42 cushion with just over 10 minutes left in regulation before Devyn Marble buried a pair of 3- pointers during a 12-0 Iowa spurt that brought the Hawkeyes within one with 7:22 on the clock. With Devyn Marble unavailable down the stretch due to cramps, Gabriel Olaseni knocked down two free throws to bring Iowa within two before Mike Gesell’s jumper following a Myles Davis turnover tied the game with 1:42 left in regulation. Olaseni opened the extra session with two more free throws to give Iowa it’s first lead of the game at 71-69 and the Hawkeyes held Xavier to just one field goal in the extra session to ensure the lead held up. Despite the lack of field goals, Xavier still had a chance to force another overtime after Aaron White turned the ball over with just under 20 seconds left, but the Musketeers missed on three 3-point tries on their final possession, allowing the Hawkeyes to escape with the victory.

Final Score: (25) Marquette 86, Cal State Fullerton 66

Fullerton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Jamil Wilson scored a personal-best 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting to power the 25th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles to an 86-66 win over Cal State Fullerton in the quarterfinals of the Wooden Legacy. Wilson, who also had nine rebounds and four assists, surpassed his previous career high of 19 in the first half alone, carrying Marquette to a 48-35 halftime lead with 20 points. Davante Gardner and Jajuan Johnson both tallied 18 points for the Golden Eagles (4-2), who will play George Washington in Friday’s semifinals. Michael Williams led the Titans (2-4) with 16 points, but made only 5-of-14 field goal attempts.
