Jacksonville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – The Tennessee Titans placed running back Dexter McCluster on injured reserve prior to Thursday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

McCluster, Tennessee’s primary third-down back this season, injured his knee during Sunday’s 16-11 loss to the New York Jets.

Signed to a three-year contract by the Titans during the offseason, the former Kansas City Chief caught 26 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown in 14 games. McCluster added 131 rushing yards on 40 carries.

He is the third Titans’ player to be put on IR this week, joining deposed starting quarterback Jake Locker (shoulder) and tight end Brett Brackett (knee).

Wide receiver Rico Richardson was elevated from the practice squad to take McCluster’s place on the 53-man roster.
