Titans’ Locker out against Jaguars

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Charlie Whitehurst will start at quarterback for the Tennessee Titans with Jake Locker declared inactive for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.

Locker left Tennessee’s Week 5 matchup against Cleveland after hitting his hand on a helmet while throwing a pass and was listed as questionable, though he did not practice at all during the week. Whitehurst threw a pair of touchdown passes in relief in the Titans’ 29-28 loss to the Browns.

Whitehurst also started for an injured Locker at Indianapolis on Sept. 28, but managed just 177 yards with one touchdown and an interception on 12-of-23 passing in the 41-17 defeat. Locker was sidelined with an injury to his right wrist.

Tennessee will have two rookies make their first career starts in Sunday’s tilt, with second-round pick Bishop Sankey getting the nod at running back and first-rounder Taylor Lewan subbing in place of Michael Roos at left tackle.

Sankey will see an expanded role with Shonn Greene inactive with a sore hamstring. Roos was placed on injured reserve Saturday after sustaining a season-ending right knee injury that required surgery.

Nickel back Coty Sensabaugh and tight end Taylor Thompson also will not play due to knee injuries.
