Tigers send Sanchez, Soria to DL
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – The Detroit Tigers placed starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez and reliever Joakim Soria on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.
Sanchez has been diagnosed with a right pectoralis major strain after departing Friday’s game against Toronto in the fifth inning. Soria, who was acquired from Texas last month, exited with a strained left oblique prior to the 10th inning on Saturday.
The Tigers announced Robbie Ray is scheduled to start Wednesday’s game against Pittsburgh.
Sanchez is 8-5 with a 3.53 ERA in 21 outings this season, while Soria has given up six runs — five earned — in 4 1/3 innings with Detroit. He compiled a 2.70 ERA over 35 appearances for the Rangers.
