Tigers’ Sanchez scratched from Sunday’s start
Detroit, MI (Sports Network) – Detroit Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez has been scratched from Sunday’s start against the Cleveland Indians with a stiff shoulder.
The Tigers will purchase the contract of Jose Alvarez from Triple-A Toledo to make the spot start in place of Sanchez, who is expected to be ready for his next assignment.
Alvarez, a 24-year-old left-hander, will be making his major league debut. He has made 12 starts for Toledo this season, going 5-4 with 76 strikeouts and a 2.42 ERA.
