Thursday workout for Richard’s Kid
Del Mar, CA (Sports Network) – He may not be a spry colt any longer, but veteran racehorse Richard’s Kid still likes to hit the track in the morning.
Trained by Doug O’Neill, the 8-year-old put in a five-furlong workout Thursday morning at Del Mar. Richard’s Kid was timed in 1:00 2/5 for the distance on Del Mar’s synthetic main track.
“He loves this track,” O’Neill said about the two-time Pacific Classic winner. “I had him going the last three-eighths in 35 (seconds) and change and galloping out another quarter in 25.”
Richard’s Kid is looking for his first win of the year after six starts. He was third in the Pimlico Special on May 17 and also had thirds this year in the Tokyo City Cup and Ben Ali.
Owned by Triple B Farms and partners, the 8-year-old has 11 wins in 45 starts for $2,362,259.
