The Outback Bowl, Chick-fil-A Bowl, and the Holiday Bowl are all This Week!

We’re still about a week and a half away from the all-important BCS National Championship game, but we’re getting into some really great other bowl games. This week you can settle down to watch some great football in the Outback Bowl, the Chick-fil-a-Bowl, and the Holiday Bowl.

Education Holiday Bowl
(17) UCLA vs. Baylor
December 27, 2012
9:45 p.m.
This one should be a close game if Baylor can get their defensive line together. They may not have enough time to do it, as their defense was ranked 117th in the nation. The Bears may have to rely on their outstanding offense, which is much better than what you’ll see from UCLA — although the Bruins offense isn’t so shabby either. If you like close games, then this is the one to watch tonight. And it may just be one of the best games before the National Championship in January.

Chick-fil-A
(8) LSU vs. (14) Clemson

There’s no question that, holding the sixth spot in the nation, Clemson has an offense that’s superior to that of LSU’s. But where Clemson excels in offense, the bayou boys excel in defense, so this will be a great game to help ring in the New Year. The only real trouble Clemson will face is that they’re facing a great team, something they’ve failed at in the past after losing to both Florida State and South Carolina. LSU will win this one, but they’ll have to work very hard to do it.

Outback Bowl
(10) South Carolina vs. (18) Michigan
January 1, 2013
1:00 p.m.
South Carolina was doing extremely well early on in the season, but a backslide in the last few weeks put them well behind those coveted top two spots. Now they’ll face off against Michigan on New Year’s Day and that will give them a chance to resume some of their spectacular performance, and hurt their bruised egos. Michigan’s problem in this game is going to be their offense; which isn’t terrible, but will have a tough time against the unstoppable offense of South Carolina. The Gamecocks will take this one and likely, it won’t even be a close game.
