The NBA is Shaking Up as the Finals Approach
The NBA is on fire as the season is coming closer to the very end. Thus far, we’ve seen The New York Knicks eliminated, despite a valiant effort and a disappointing performance overall by Heat. Heat eliminated the Knicks from the Playoffs beating them in their own American Airlines Arena.
Their disappointing season end probably won’t sit well for Jeremy Lin, who along with Baron Davis and Mike Bibby are going to be free agents by next season. In fact, there is already talk of Lin being stolen away from the Knicks by the Toronto Raptors. Lin is one of the NBA’s biggest stars right now, and even his catchphrase “Lin-sanity” is going mainstream. Then again, both the Knicks and the Raptors are also interested in two-time MVP winner Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns. Lin might be the perfect best choice instead of Nash, and ideal for a second-rate team. (Since presumably a big star like Nash wants to play for a championship team)
Elsewhere in the league, some players are already off the active list–and who knows, perhaps for the rest of the season. Chris Bosh of Miami Heat, suffered an abdominal strain, leaving him out of action for an unknown period of time. More than a few sources are speculating that Miami’s tall-order playing schedule is to play. After all, they played 66 games in 124 days. However, no one is coming outright and saying that’s what injured Bosh.
Other teams to keep your eyes on include the Philadelphia 76ers, who actually trumped the Chicago Bulls in the first round, and also defeated the Boston Celtics by a one point lead, evening up the total score. The Clippers also have a promising week ahead, as Chris Paul has been winning victories for the team and shining during those crucial final minutes.
Thus far, the best winning teams are Chicago Bulls with 50-16 (as of Monday, May 14th, 2012) and the San Antonio Spurs with 50-16. In the coming week, we are going to see some conference semifinals with all of your favorites in action, from Chicago to Philadelphia to LA and Miami Heat. What do you think? Who does this season belong to?
