The Miami Heat Take the NBA Finals!
The NBA Finals for 2012 is history! This year the stakes were high for one professional team. The Miami Heat, two years prior to this exiting series, had assembled ‘The Dream Team’. This trio of players is considered to be comprised of the best in the NBA. Chrish Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade were assembled to create ‘One of the best teams in history’. With much ado, they had made it to the big game last year, only to get squashed by The Dallas Mavericks.
This year, they came determined to live up to their larger-than-life standards they had been given. They were facing The Thunder, led by none other than known superstar Kevin Durant. The Heat came away with games one, two, and three, increasing the betting odds greatly in their favor. The fourth game was taken by the Oklahoma City Thunder, spurring many talks about the possibility of a great comeback. The 5th game was greatly anticipated by, well, everyone! Thunder fans were hoping for a confirmation that their team still had a shot, while Heat fans were looking for their team to finish the series and give their team their 2nd championship title. This was a great game to watch, as it held star performances from star players. Durant scored 31 points, while LeBron scored only 26.
They both had 11 rebounds, but the real difference came in the assists. Last year, James’ biggest criticism (setting aside his still fuming ex-fans over in Cleveland) was his selfishness with the ball. If he had the ball, he would shoot. However, after all of that, number 6 for the Miami Heat learned, and had 13 assists this time around, opposed to Durant’s 3. This is what some people believe set apart this past season from the previous one. James’ used this newfound ability to lead his team to the 126-121 win over the Thunder. The team got a parade and LeBron James had “The only party he ever wanted”.
As for next year, many predict that we are going to see a lot more from the Boston Celtics. They have a great history and have some rising players, such as their own LeBron James, RojoRondo.
