The Citadel to visit Florida State

Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Citadel will play BCS national champion Florida State and six home games as part of head coach Mike Houston’s first season this year.

The Southern Conference school announced a 12-game schedule on Monday, including the Sept. 6 visit to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston and his Florida State teammates.

The Citadel’s home schedule at Johnson Hagood Stadium will include non- conference opponents Coastal Carolina (Aug. 30) and Gardner-Webb (Sept. 27) from the Big South and independent program Charlotte (Oct. 11).

Within their SoCon schedule, the Bulldogs will host all three 2013 tri- champions, Chattanooga (Oct. 18), Furman (Nov. 8, Homecoming) and Samford (Nov. 15).

The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-7 season, including 4-4 in the SoCon. Houston was hired on Jan. 9.
