The Amazing Kreskin is Still Amazing
Are you an ardent fan of illusions? Do you like to see performances from mentalists who seem to have the power to predict the future? While there might not be any true psychics, mentalists such as The Amazing Kreskin can leave you wondering. This name should be quite familiar to you if you enjoy these sorts of shows and performances. Kreskin’s star really started to rise during the 1970s when he started to feature prominently on television in Canada and the United States.
He even had his own television show called The Amazing World of Kreskin on CTV in Canada, and syndicated in the United States, from 1970 to 1975. Later in ’75, he had a new show called The New Kreskin Show. In addition to having his own television show, he was a regular guest on talk shows. In fact, he was on The Tonight Show 61 times in the decade from ’70 to ’80. Over the years, his popularity waxed and waned, but he never really disappeared, and today he is still performing regularly.
He prefers to call himself a magician or mentalist rather than a psychic. He does offer “predictions” about a number of different things, including world events. Sometimes he is correct and sometimes he is not. His skills seem to come more from observation of a scene, situation, or even the world stage rather than from psychic skills, and he’s the first one to tell people this. He even teaches memory jogging techniques and lie detection through body language and voice changes to law enforcement.
Kreskin is not without some controversy though. When his predictions go wrong, the media does point them out, naturally. In 2002, he predicted that there would be a UFO sighting in Las Vegas. While there weren’t any UFOs that night, it did show that he could get thousands of people to be susceptible to his words and get them to camp outside in hopes of seeing something out of this world!
Despite that controversy, Kreskin remains a great showman and a popular figure. If you get a chance to see him on his tour in NJ, SC, MA, and IA, you should take the opportunity and get tickets. It is a fun time!
