Texans sign NT Pickett; Nix to IR
Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Houston Texans have signed nose tackle Ryan Pickett after placing rookie defensive lineman Louis Nix on injured reserve.
Nix, a third-round pick out of Notre Dame, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee before training camp and hasn’t fully recovered. Texans coach Bill O’Brien said earlier this week that Nix still had “a ways to go.”
Pickett is entering his 14th NFL season. He spent his first five years with St. Louis, which made him a first-round pick in 2001, and played the past eight seasons in Green Bay.
The 34-year-old Ohio State product started all 16 games for the Packers last season and notched 19 tackles.
Houston also signed kicker Chris Boswell to the practice squad and released cornerback Marcus Williams from the practice squad.
