Tarasenko, Datsyuk, Fleury claim NHL weekly honors
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – St. Louis Blues right wing Vladimir Tarasenko, Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk and Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury have been selected as the NHL’s top players for last week.
Tarasenko earned the First Star after leading the NHL with five goals in helping St. Louis to three victories. He notched his first career hat trick and added an assist in a 4-3 overtime win over Dallas last Tuesday and added a second multi-goal game on Saturday against Colorado.
Datsyuk picked up the Second Star with a league-best seven-point effort last week. He recorded multiple points in all three games, finishing with four goals and three assists.
Fleury was honored as the Third Star thanks to a pair of shutouts in a three- win week. After allowing three goals in the first 30 minutes of an 8-3 victory over New Jersey, he made 36 saves in 3-0 win over Los Angeles and stopped 18 shots in a 5-0 rout of Buffalo.
