Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Recaps
Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Tre Lynch scored 16 points off the bench to lift the third-seeded Southern University Jaguars to a 64-60 win over the sixth-seeded Alabama A&M Bulldogs in the quarterfinals of the SWAC Tournament at the Toyota Center.
Adrian Rodgers netted 15 points for the Jaguars (17-16), who also received 14 points courtesy of Trelun Banks. Southern University will take on the No. 2 seed Alabama State in the semifinals.
Alabama A&M (9-20) came up short despite a solid showing by Rakiya Battle, who tallied 15 points and seven assists. Nicolas West also had 15 points and LaDarius Tabb finished with 14 points.
The Jaguars outscored Alabama A&M, 30-24, in the paint and 19-12 at the free- throw line in the contest. Southern led by 11 with 4:43 remaining in regulation before the Bulldogs made five of their last six shots from the floor to narrow the deficit before the final buzzer.
